Speak Life Through the Stories You Tell Yourself
THE SPEAK LIFE WORKSHOP — May 21, 2022
Join me for a morning of exploring how the stories we tell have a direct impact on the lives we live.
No matter what is happening in our lives, we often have a story to explain or justify why things are the way they are, and why we may not be where we feel we should be. These stories often involve blame, jealousy, guilt or shame and can hold us back from living the life God created us for. Taking a look at our stories and the beliefs behind them can empower us to live a more abundant life.
Hi, I’m Shelyna,
I’m a judge, community leader, minister, certified master coach, mediator, trainer and mentor. I came from a modest upbringing. In fact, statistics said I would likely be a drop-out and/or a single mother. Even my high school guidance counselor tried to steer me away from the rigor required to become a lawyer. Yet many years later I became one of the youngest judges appointed to the bench in Santa Clara County. I continue to defy odds every day by utilizing the tools I’ve adapted from presiding over my courtroom, as well as my life, and it’s my passion to share with you so that you, too, can Preside over your own life.

Behind every story we tell is a belief we hold.
A belief is a well-established thought that we think over and over again. It is something we hold true, which becomes an order to be followed, finding a way of proving itself to be true in our lives. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy, determining what we will be, do or have. This makes it extremely important to understand what we really believe, and once we know, we can correct certain beliefs to create a more powerful, life giving story.
The Speak Life Workshop with Shelyna Brown
-
Identify Your Story
First, we’ll explore the stories we’re telling ourselves to make sure they speak life and not death. We’ll root out any limiting beliefs that produce lack and identify situations where you’re living as a Spectator.
-
Deconstruct Your Story
Next, we’ll work through the disempowering beliefs that no longer serve you, and who you may be blaming or need to forgive. We’ll strike these beliefs so that you’re ready for a new story.
-
Rewrite Your Story
Lastly, we’ll rewrite new, empowering stories of abundance and create a new order for your life based on God’s truth. We’ll celebrate the beginning of this journey toward living as the Steward you were created to be.
“Life changing and challenging. You cannot help but be changed by confronting the stories we tell ourselves that keep us bound.”
— Kim H.
Understanding your old story will help you identify where you have been a Spectator in your life—sitting on the sidelines watching your life go by—and how you can instead become a Steward over your new story—actively participating in designing and directing your abundant and joy-filled life.
